A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and Harvard Kennedy School, Laura is a 12-year veteran of the U.S. Navy and former helicopter pilot. She is an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) through the International Coaching Federation and has been a featured national speaker to over 30 Fortune 500 companies in fields ranging from healthcare and banking to real estate and technology. Laura’s speaking topics cover the power of communication, negotiation and persuasion.
After receiving her commission from the U.S. Naval Academy, Laura graduated first in her class from flight school. She was selected to fly the CH-46D Sea Knight, deploying throughout the Middle East in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Laura was then selected to be an instructor pilot in the SH-60F Sea Hawk, known to many as the Black Hawk, before serving in elite leadership and staff
positions globally. After her successful military career, Laura earned her Master’s in Public Administration from Harvard where she focused her studies on performance leadership, negotiation and conflict resolution. Laura worked closely with Harvard Law School’s Program on Negotiation.
Before joining TPI, Laura was a lead negotiator and trainer for Prism Learning Group where she specialized in the areas of senior leadership development, conflict resolution and effective communication. She served as the lead executive coach and speaker for McChrystal Group, helping organizations adapt in today’s rapidly changing operating environment based on lessons learned on the battlefield.
In all her endeavors, Laura’s strives to help clients achieve peak performance by drawing on her business expertise and her unique military experience. Outside of work, Laura is dedicated to helping veterans transition out of the military and is involved with Harvard’s Women in Defense, Diplomacy and Development. Laura currently lives in Washington, D.C. with her husband and two sons.
